The “Shlomo Shul” in Mevo Modiim is a spiritual landmark, a place of inspiration that connects the local community with hundreds of thousands of people worldwide who were touched by the teachings and songs of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, of blessed memory.
For over fifty years, worshippers and visitors have filled this sacred space, surrounded by the beautiful murals of renowned artist Yitzhak Ben Yehuda.
But time has taken its toll: moisture seeps into the foundations, causing cracks in the walls, and the precious murals are peeling.
That is why we – The Meor Modiim Community Heritage Center and Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach Foundation – are launching a crowdfunding campaign to restore and preserve the synagogue for generations to come.
The Restoration Project
Stage One (360,000 NIS):
Stage Two (estimated 300,000 NIS):
This renovation is the first step toward creating The Shlomo Center – an educational and cultural hub celebrating Rabbi Shlomo’s legacy. It will feature an immersive audiovisual exhibition, diverse programs, and, under agreements already signed with government partners, a tourism village with 100 guest rooms. Then, every Shabbat will become a Shabbat of inspiration and song – or as the community lovingly says, a “Shlomo Shabbos.”
As Rabbi Shlomo often said: “Open your hearts.”
With your generosity, we can begin the renovation now – so that this sacred space continues to inspire generations to come.
