The Meor Modi’in Association, which holds the rights from the Israel Land Authority to establish the tourism center currently referred to as “The Shlomo Center,” founded the nonprofit organization “The Center for the Meor Modi’in Community” to manage incoming tourism to Mevo Modi’im and expand participation beyond the association (whose membership is limited to residents of Mevo Modi’im) to a broader audience interested in contributing to the realization of the dream of The Shlomo Center.
The registered objectives of the nonprofit are as follows:
- Establishing a heritage center and archive for the Meor Modi’in community.
- Establishing a spiritual and educational center in Mevo Modi’im, based on the teachings and songs of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, of blessed memory.
- Promoting Mevo Modi’im as a central destination for Carlebach followers and prayer groups in Israel and worldwide.
- Operating tourism and educational activities in Mevo Modi’im, such as tours, workshops, lectures, and performances.
- Repairing and preserving the synagogue of Mevo Modi’im (“The Shlomo Shul”) including its wall paintings.
- Establishing a fund for the renewal of vegetation in Mevo Modi’im after the fire and for planting a human-planted forest within the settlement.
